A misty morning at Flaxmill Bay set the scene for this piece, inspired by a gentle wander with my sons around the Shakespear Cliff tracks and along the quiet shoreline. We paused often to hunt for shells, the boys marveling at every new shape they discovered. Their favourite was what Felix calls an “orn horn”, a unicorn horn shaped shell, treasured for its perfect spiral. The calm, muted light and those quietly joyful moments together created a sense of deep serenity that I wanted to capture in this work.
