Hut Scapes A Collaboration with the Backcountry Trust

.This year, I’ve partnered with The Backcountry Trust to create a series of ‘Hut Scapes’, paintings celebrating some of Aotearoa’s most iconic and remote backcountry huts.

At the heart of my work is a love for wild places and a belief that the more we experience them, the more we care for them. Whether it’s a windswept alpine bivvy or a quiet forest hut, these shelters are part of our landscape’s story. They are places of rest, challenge, connection, and memory. Each painting aims to capture more than just a structure. I want to reflect the feeling of being there: the journey in, the weather, the stillness, the history, the magic.

Proceeds from this project help support the work of the Backcountry Trust, who fund the restoration of huts and tracks across Aotearoa through the incredible efforts of volunteers. It’s my way of giving back to the spaces that have inspired so much of my life and work.
