Commissions
Commissions, how does it work?
I do commissions in two different ways. The first option is quite traditional where you as the client come to me with your brief, the size and shape you’d like and any reference material you’d like me to see. It’s also helpful for me to know which of my previous paintings, colour schemes or styles you like most. I’ll give you a price and if you accept you would then pay a non-refundable deposit to book your place. I book in four of these commissions a year, one for each season. I like to give myself plenty of time so I don’t feel under pressure and because I have two young children and there’s always things that come up and take me away from my painting time. My next available slot for one of these commissions is summer.
The other option is much looser. This is for someone that doesn’t quite know what they want, but they know what they like whether that’s colour scheme, subject or style. For this option you would tell me as much as you can about size, shape, or surfboard, preferences in colour, anything that comes to mind, and it can be as vague as you like. I’ll record it all on my list, there’s no obligation from you and I’ll continue painting my own ideas (as I have too many to keep up with) and when your idea fits with mine you’ll get a message out of blue with a photo of a work in progress. Either you love it and will have the first option to buy it when finished or it’s not quite what you’re after and it will go into a gallery or wherever I have planned.
