I was warned about the mud on the Rakiura Track and secretly dreading the kids getting stuck waist deep, hating it and then needing carrying. The track wasn’t too bad and boys managed to skip and glide over the worst it. We were constantly going up and down which evened out everyone’s speed. It was easy to walk as group as the uneven ground slowed down old knees and the boys enjoyed the climbs.
